Huntsville’s Hidden Gem

HOW IT STARTED…

In 2013 local Huntsville moms Julie Moore and Tina Hamilton opened up their very first chip truck called MUSKOKA MAMAS in the heart of Huntsville. The main focus was to sell the local community fresh-cut fries and Quebec-style poutines while also cooking only 2 patties at a time on a small George Forman grill.

FAST FORWARD TO 2016

By popular demand, Julie Moore brought back the little cart that started it all, along with a bigger grill to cook even more burgers! She explored her horizons and brought back the classic burgers and fries that soon became what is now known as SMOKIN’ HOT BBQ, an outside smokehouse and grill.

What began as a small fry wagon, evolved into a bigger family-owned business with her husband Larry Moore, son and daughters Michael, Andrea and Merrissa Moore, along with various other family members and friends.

With her great recipes, eye for detail and infectious smile Julie was able to win the hearts of many and eventually served the people more than just burgers and fries, by expanding the menu to more BBQ favourites such as 16-hour smoked Ribs, Brisket and Pulled Pork, Turkey and Chicken, plus a few SMOKIN’ HOT sides.

From 2016-2022, Smokin’ Hot BBQ rented a lot on a sweet spot along Highway 60 across from the Kawartha Dairy, overlooking the calm nature view of Fairy Lake.

SUMMER 2023

The business started to expand! We purchased a plot of land across the road from our prior location in Huntsville! Still located on Highway 60 but now NEXT to Kawartha Dairy instead of across the road from it.

In 2023 we continued to work with the town of Huntsville on permits and impact studies. We were very blessed to work with the great folks at The Muskoka Foundry in Bracebridge who offered us a fantastic location for our BBQ to be avaialbe on Fridays and Saturdays all year long! This allowed up to continue our series of live music events supporting local artists.

Our catering abilities also expanded with a series of mobile smokers! We bring the smoky goodness of our food right to your location! Weddings, family reunions, corporate events and more! We now cater events for 5 to 155 (or more) folks!

Summer 2024

Headed back to Huntsville! With the core family group still working away Julie and Larry continue the dream!

While negations and impact studies continue on Hwy 60 we plan to be open May 2024. We will be located in a 100+ year old train station at 26 Station Rd in Huntsville.

Our mobile catering continues! We keep bringing the smoky goodness of Texas Style BBQ right to you! Weddings, family reunions, corporate events and more! If you want to get on the list you need to act soon. Summer/Fall 2024 is almost booked up!!
